Google algorithmic updates:

Google algorithms are used by Google to redeem data from the search index and immediately gives the best possible results for a query. The search engine uses algorithms and many ranking signals to deliver webpages on its search engine results pages (SERPs).SO whenever google update these algorithms,a sudden change in rankings of webpages in SERPs can be seen.
There are so many Google algorithmic updates which are as follow :

1.Penguin update:

Google launched the Penguin Update in April 2012 to.It basically targets spam and bad links.

2.Panda update:

This update was introduced in February 2011 .Panda update is designed to target pages that aren’t spam but aren’t great quality.

3.Pigeon Update:

This update was Launched on July 24, 2014 .Google stated that this new algorithm improves their distance and location ranking parameters.

4.Payday Update:

This update was Launched on June 11, 2013. The Payday Update was a new algorithm prey at cleaning up search results for spammy queries such as payday loan, pornographic and other heavily spammed queries.

 5.Pirate Update:

Google’s Pirate Update is a filter introduced in August 2012.It is designed to prevent sites with many copyright infringement reports, as filed through Google’s DMCA system, from ranking well in Google’s listings.

6.Hummingbird:

Hummingbird”update is launched in September 2013.The name comes from being precise and fast.It basically focus on the meaning behind the words. Hummingbird is paying more attention to each word in a query. It focus on the whole query or sentence rather than particular words. The pages matching the meaning do better, rather than pages matching just a few words.

7.Mobile Friendly Update:

On April 21, 2015, Google released a new mobile-friendly ranking algorithm.It is designed to give boost to mobile-friendly pages in Google’s mobile search results.

8.EMD Update:

The EMD Update is Exact Match Domain update.Google launched EMD update in September 2012.It is to block poor quality sites from ranking well because they had words that match search terms in their domain names.

9.Top Heavy Update:

Top Heavy was launched in January 2012 by Google.It is to prevent sites that were top heavy with ads from ranking well in its listings. Top Heavy is periodically updated. When a fresh Top Heavy Update happens, sites that have removed excessive ads may regain lost rankings. New sites deemed too “top heavy” may get caught.

10.Medic Core Update:

The latest update is Medic core update done by google on 1st august,2018.It affects so many sites but 42% are medical sites.The sites which have higher rank came down.In this update google checked the content of sites not quality.
